The Honor Society of The Braves

William Lawrence Braves of 2005There is an organization at Camp known as The Honor Society of the Braves. The goals of the organization are to make individuals aware of their abilities and their potential through physical and mental tests; to build character; and to serve the Camp.

To become a Member of The Honor Society of the Braves, a person must first be accepted as a Candidate. This process is explained at the beginning of each session. Candidates are assigned to one of the four Tribes. Candidates must successfully pass a series of tests ending with the Lone Vigil. These tests are drawn from a wide range of Camp activities, and a Candidate will usually spend several seasons at Camp in order to complete them all.

Each tribe is led by a speaker selected by the Braves. The Speaker of each Tribe is a person who is well on his way to becoming a Brave and serves as an example of the ideals of the Society and the Camp through his Willingness, Loyalty, Comradeship and Sportsmanship.
