We had Olympic Day on July 3rd, and it
was a smashing success. All 4
teams had pretty close scores throughout the day...,
the closest Goose has seen since taking over running Olympic
Day. Team Zulu Warriors lead much of
the day, although the size of the lead changed.
We had a double thunderstorm
in the afternoon, so the tug-of-war
was held in the Middler wayside!!! But
in the Apache Relay, Team Zulu Warriors
were overtaken by Team G-Force, who arrived at the fire-building
station several minutes after Zulu, but had put their Outdoor
Living Skills to work with a
better-built fire for the purpose (birch
bits to burn fast and hot) and placed their gimp strung to take
advantage of the prevailing breeze. Team
G-Force member Dan Seaman positively rocketed away from
there to the soccer field, where the final trial events were
held, and Team Zulu could not overtake them. Team
spirits were very, very, very high in the dining hall today,
particularly at lunch and dinner.
"You'd like parents to SEE this so they could see the
spirit, but I don't think they could take the volume of sound!"
It was a FABULOUS day at William
