At William Lawrence Camp, our commitment to camper care revolves around fostering a sense of community and family that transcends the typical summer camp experience.
With a 3-to-1 camper-to-staff ratio, we pride ourselves on providing personalized attention and creating a supportive environment where every camper feels valued and included.
Our experienced leaders serve as mentors and role models, ensuring that the campers not only engage in exciting activities but also thrive in a nurturing family-like setting. This intentional approach to community living enables us to build strong connections, instill a sense of belonging, and create lasting memories that extend far beyond the boundaries of our picturesque camp grounds.
“Attending William Lawrence Camp has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed into a vibrant community that emphasized friendship, growth, and adventure. The camp’s stunning natural setting provided the perfect backdrop for countless memories that I will cherish forever.
One of the most significant aspects of my experience was discovering my love of culinary arts. Through various camp activities, I had the opportunity to explore cooking in a supportive environment, and that passion blossomed into my adult career path as a chef and now a chef instructor. The skills I learned and the creativity I was encouraged to express in the kitchen have shaped my journey, and I am grateful to the camp for nurturing that passion.
Becoming a member of the camp’s Honor Society was certainly a highlight of my time at camp. It taught me the values of Willingness, Loyalty, Comradeship, and Sportsmanship, along with woodman skills, and pushed me to challenge myself in ways I never thought possible. Each test I completed not only helped me develop new skills but also instilled a sense of accomplishment and pride. The support from my peers and mentors along the way made the journey even more meaningful.
William Lawrence Camp has given me lifelong friends and unforgettable experiences. I’ve learned the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and the beauty of nature. As I reflect on my time here, I am grateful for the lessons learned and the friendships formed. This camp is truly a place where I found my passion and a sense of belonging.
I wholeheartedly recommend William Lawrence Camp to anyone seeking an enriching and unforgettable summer experience. It’s more than just a camp; it’s a community that encourages growth, adventure, and the spirit of togetherness. Now that both my son and nephews are campers, I can’t wait for them to experience the same magic and start their own memories!”
Regardless if you are a first time camp family or a seasoned pro – spending the summer apart can be scary and nerve racking.
Homesickness isn’t just something campers experience… it is also something that parents feel being away from their sons.
As parents our young campers ourselves, we understand! That is why we’ve put the following support systems in place to help campers and parents:
Proper Prior Planning
When your son is enrolled in camp, you receive a lot (and we mean ‘a lot’) of support in getting ready for the summer. Parents’ Guide to Camp. Boy’s Guide to Camp. Packing Lists. Transportation Support. The list goes on. We are even able to connect you to a returning camp family so they can give their perspective on attending camp. We make sure you and your son are ready for camp!
Camp Family Orientation
On Arrival Day, parents will meet the camp’s leadership team, be introduced to your son’s cabin counselors, and are encouraged to walk around camp. You will tour your son’s cabin, check out the dining hall and waterfront, and just get a ‘feel for the camp’.
Before departing, all parents are invited to attend our Camp Family Orientation. This is a chance to ask any questions, express any concerns, and to drop off cookies for our leadership team. Chocolate Chip please!
Consistent & Open Communication
Once camp starts… things tend to slow down a bit. Campers soon find a comfortable and predictable routine that follows 15 hours of sunlight. And although campers naturally become disconnected from the outside world, we understand that the outside world doesn’t stop.
Parents have access to our Camp Leadership team 24 Hours a day through the Campanion App, email, or telephone. In the unlikely event you are not able to get a hold of someone immediately, a staff member will typically return your message or call within an hour.
